This week our focus was on preparing for our in-person meeting with the mentors at the start of Week 9. Our goal was to have all shots approximately 99% complete in advance of that review. Overall, the shots are in a strong position. The refinements we made this week were shot-specific and aimed at maintaining visual consistency across the sequence.

  • Feedback

    • Shot 1

      • Highlights need to be brighter, make cloth feel white

      • Make shot feel macro with depth of field in comp

    • Shot 2

      • Add motion blur

      • Add depth of field

    • Shot 4

      • Shadows too dark

      • Background too dark, should match colors in the room

    • Shot 5A

      • Shadows too dark

      • Background too dark, should match colors in the room

    • Shot 6

      • Mattress less like butter, less sharp, add sheet wrinkles

      • Have throw blanket come in with comforter

      • too much glow on mattress

    • Shot 7

      • Lower subsurface on pillows, less doughy

      • Adjust tree gobo to match shot 6

      • Simulation on bed, settle just a little

      • Bring down the drop shadow on logo

For Shots 4 and 5A, I adjusted the shadow balance to improve clarity and cohesion. In Shot 4, I added an additional light directed toward the underside of the sheet to prevent it from becoming overly dark as it descends. Previously, we were noticing a loss of detail during that movement, and this adjustment helped preserve form and readability.

In Shot 7, I repositioned the tree gobo and reduced the radius of the sunlight to better match the look established in Shot 6. This ensured continuity in lighting and maintained a consistent environmental feel between the two shots.

Additionally, I imported Ella’s pillow texture from Shot 5B into Shot 7. This helped reduce the overly soft, doughy appearance of the pillows and aligned their look more closely with the rest of the sequence.
